Wanted! Next Generation Women Labor Leaders

Do you want to put your research skills, your social media savvy, your people skills, your policy writing skills to good use for racial, gender, and economic justice? Join the worker justice movement where we fight for the rights and dignity of hardworking people every day. Apply for the inaugural WILL Empower Apprenticeship Program, where worker activists and recently graduated student activists learn to put their passion and skills to work with pay.

The Apprenticeship Program seeks to address a clear need for early career training and on-ramps to jobs with economic justice organizations. If selected, paid apprentices will be placed with a union or worker organization for three to twelve months.

Applications are due June 15, 2018.

Apprentices may work in a variety of capacities, including organizing, research, communications, politics, mobilization, and policy. The first group of apprentices will be placed with organizations across the country. They will meet as a cohort for a formal orientation and will begin work in the fall of 2018. Each apprentice will benefit from ongoing mentorship, with mentors both within and outside of the host organization. WILL Empower staff will work with program graduates on job identification and recommendation.

Note that this is not an internship for full-time students.  Rather, the apprenticeship is a full-time job training experience. We have provided a guide with more information about the Apprenticeship.

WILL Empower (Women Innovating Labor Leadership) is a newly-launched, multipronged initiative designed to identify, nurture, and train a new generation of women’s labor leadership. It is a joint project of Georgetown University’s Kalmanovitz Initiative for Labor and the Working Poor and Rutgers University’s Center for Innovation in Working Organization.

You or someone you know might be perfect for this Apprenticeship Program so share this opportunity with your friends.

Applications are due June 15, 2018.
